Vulcan commune is known for the beauty of its countryside and its Saxon history. As early as the 13th century, the Saxons settled in Vulcan Commune, leaving a strong imprint on local architecture, culture and customs. They gave a German name to the commune, so it is still known today as „Wolkendorf” – Village in the clouds.

History

Wolkendorf Guesthouse – Vulcan Guest House, is the place where the Saxon style and quality services are perfectly intertwined for a pleasant atmosphere.

Starting from the 18th century, the guesthouse was a place of recreation and rest for the Saxon community from Vulcan. The guesthouse hosted various events and social activities. The construction is in the Saxon architectural style, with an emphasis on durability and aesthetics.

In 2023, the guesthouse went through a renovation process, keeping its original construction/architecture. We are happy to welcome guests in a place that reflects a harmonious design between Saxon style, modern elements and the tranquility of the surroundings. We invite you to step into a home where the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

About Us

Wolkendorf Guesthouse consists of two buildings, both in the same courtyard. The main building has 9 rooms, 7 twin rooms, 2 triple rooms and a dining room. The second building has 5 twin rooms, a relaxation area with TV and event/conference room.

The guesthouse has an inner courtyard where you can relax "in the shade of the old walnut". The guest house also has a beautiful garden with a covered terrace, where private events can be organized within the limits of availability (christenings, birthdays, etc.).

The kitchen of the Guest House reflects a combination of traditional Romanian and Saxon influences. This unique combination of cultures is manifested through a variety of tasty dishes and culinary techniques passed down from generation to generation. (Both lunch and dinner can only be offered on an order basis).

One of the most popular traditional Saxon desserts that we make at Wolkendorf Guesthouse is Baumstriezel. This is more than a dessert, it is a symbol of the traditions of the Saxon communities in Transylvania. The Baumstriezel offer an authentic culinary experience, steeped in history and tradition. (can only be offered on an order basis).

Both lunch and dinner are served upon prior customer request.
For the prices of an organized group, a price offer is drawn up according to the discussion with the organizer.
For the price of a private event, a price offer is drawn up according to the discussion with the client.
